Coffee Chats: Meet Simon Urbina

I’m a designer and front end engineer with over 20 years of experience.
Name: Simon Urbina

Title: Product Owner / Designer

Describe your role: I’m a designer and front end engineer with over 20 years of experience. Here at Camber, my main focus is to make sure the client’s vision is my own and to help in any way I can to deliver that vision. I started as a graphic designer and illustrator coding my first website in 1996. I’ve worked with brands like Publix, Microsoft, and Discovery Channel. I’ve been fortunate enough to gain a strong understanding of business strategy, user experience, and technology along the way. My mission is to build beautiful products and make sure user voices matter in the products following the age old golden rule.

Simon is well-versed in product design and user experience.
Simon loves his puppy Macy!

Where are you located? I live in Tampa, FL.

Where did you study? I have a degree in graphic design, a usability testing certificate, and am in the process of pursuing a NNG UX certification.

What do you like best about working at Camber? My favorite aspect of working at Camber is having the ability to help clients directly and see projects through to completion.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself: I can play the guitar and sing.

Favorite Camber moment: Camber is a special place. It’s not just one moment for me that stands out. I really enjoy how the teams interact together here at Camber.

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about client delivery and product design. I really enjoy getting the details right.

What types of projects did you work on before finding Camber? Before finding Camber, I did work at Publix. During my time at Publix, I was responsible for app design for the Publix app and Publix Pharmacy app. Publix came of age digitally during that time and I like to think I helped bring that about. While at Masonite, I also created their first Design System with around 1100 artifacts supported by a React library and took them from testing 0 users to 250 users under many methodologies in one year.

What do you like to do for fun? Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, wood working in my shop, and playing the guitar.
